DVD: Unstoppable

Denzel Washington (Glory) and Chris Pine (Star Trek) attempt to stop a runaway train in this thriller from director Tony Scott (True Romance).

Washington and Pine have good chemistry as the veteran and rookie train drivers and they get good support from Rosario Dawson as the controller.

No depth to the story here, they have to stop the train before it crashes and potentially causes major damage to a town, that's it. What elevates the film is the characters, you actually care about these guys as their personal troubles are revealed while they put their lives on the line.

Very entertaining.

  1. I had been considering going Box Office on SKY for this one but was undecided until now, think I'll give it a whirl. What's your opinion, Rick, of Mr Washington as an actor?

  2. I'd say he's a bit hit and miss. In this he's pretty good but sometimes I don't see what all the fuss is about. I remember him in his early days on the tv show St. Elsewhere, that's where he got his break.

  3. I'm with you, Rick. I've heard many people say things like 'if Denzel's in it, it's worth watching!' I personally don't buy into that. I do agree he has a certain amount of screen presence, but put him up against a Seagal or an Ironside and, for me, he's left wanting.

  4. It's a simple story, but it sure has you on the edge of your seat for the duration!
